Event Permit Process Video
Creating an Explainer video about the Lancaster City Event Permit Process
CLIENT/INDUSTRY: Lancaster City
MEDIUM: Digital
DELIVERABLES: Two Digital Videos in English and Spanish
SOFTWARE: Adobe Illustrator, After Effects
TARGET AUDIENCE: Lancaster City Residents
In the fall of 2022, the city revamped and transitioned the event permit submission process into an online process. To pair with this revamp, a video was created in a similar style format to the block party promotional explainer video to explain the online process, why it takes as long as it does, and what exactly goes into it. There were common misunderstandings with the process and the deadlines for the applications that the video would clear up.
SCRIPT AND STORYBOARD
CREATING THE SCRIPT
Research on government-existing event permit videos from large and small towns was compiled and kept in mind while scripting things for the Lancaster City Video. Using the outline of the online process, there was the addition of researching and compiling information on the Lancaster City permit process to understand and explain it in the video. After writing the initial script, my supervisor reviewed and edited it in some aspects to match it with the current Lancaster city brand before sending the script to the Spanish translator to get it translated.
Animatic
ROUGH ANIMATION
After the Ideation/storyboarding of the script, an animatic was created to estimate how long the animation would be, the timing of specific scenes, and if the frame's movements would flow fluidly and correctly. Given time constraints, the animatic was half done before I was approved with the go-ahead for final production.
CREATED ASSETS
ADDITIONAL CHARACTERS
Given that the video would go over different departments in Lancaster City, a diverse range of characters representing the department's employees involved with the permit process was created, As well as additional background and object assets.
